A Day In The Life

A friend of mine recently shared her day in pictures, in thirty-minute increments, so I shamelessly swiped the idea from here, recorded my day yesterday accordingly...and here you go:

7:30am

I had been awake for about half an hour at this point, but I didn't think a picture of me just deciding how to get up without waking anyone would be at all interesting. As it is, you can hardly see what I left when I finally did decide to get up. Just take my word for it - it's sleeping little people- all over the place.

And the cat was waiting for me as soon as I got up. "Feed me. NOW."

\
8:00 am

Ryan woke up and we watched the elmination episode of Dancing with the Stars from the previous night while I had my coffee. Yeah, we did, and I just admitted it. So there.

8:30am
The boys helped themselves to some computer time.Yes,  I probably should have insisted that they ask permission, but it was PBS online, so it probably counted for something. Ahem. Also Chase was the one who got on the computer first (he snuck in there quietly while Ryan and I were in the living room - see above picture), and while on the one hand it's annoying that he can access any computer or electronic device in the house and figure out all the passwords, on the other, sometimes I just have to give him credit for being smart, determined, and tech-savvy.

9:00 am
Breakfast!

9:30 am
We looked at some animal videos Granddaddy sent.

10:00 am
We read in Matthew, then in Redwall.

10:30 am
Chase felt like he needed more oatmeal.

11:00 am
While I was helping the boys get ready, Scarlett helped herself to some of my make-up. I let her see her handiwork in the mirror (and then, yes, I did take the mascara away).

11:30am
There's no picture because I was busy herding kids into the car to go the library, and usually that does take a full half hour.

12:00am
We made it! The boys must run first to stand by the flagpoles. I'm not sure why. At any rate, with that ritual completed, we made our way in to the library.

12:30 pm.
We were still there, of course. While I checked out our stacks of books, Chase and Scarlett checked out some library bags, each three books based on a theme and a fun manipulative to go with the theme.

1:00 pm
Lunch

1:30 pm
We read one of the books we checked out.

2:00 pm
I put Scarlett down for her nap. Yes, I did nurse her down, even though she is in fact almost three!

2:30 pm
I made sure Aimee was doing her Latin, as instructed...

...and I had Drew do some reading in Science, although for him it's probably just a bit superfluous.
 3:00 pm

3:30 pm
Scarlett was still sleeping, Aimee up in her room, the boys were quiet, and I had a date with my steam mop. I skipped the picture.

4:00 pm
Scarlett woke up, so the boys and I went upstairs with her, and we all read a few more books.

4:30 pm
Aimee had asked me to touch up her aqua highlights, so we had a hair coloring session.

5:00 pm
Scarlett helped me make some omelettes for dinner.

5:30 pm
Dinner was a bit hurried, and a help-yourself sort of affair, as the kids were getting ready to go to church.

6:00 pm
Dave took the kids to church. (In this picture, Aimee is groaning, "Another picture? Has it seriously been thirty minutes already?")

7:00 pm
The 6:30 picture wouldn't have been very exciting. This one pretty much captures what Scarlett and I did while the older kids were gone. Laundry, and some more laundry.

8:30 pm

This kids came home, and bedtime commenced, which I didn't manage to capture in pictures. Suffice it to say that at various points in the next couple of hours, the kids went to sleep, and eventually, so did we.

So there you have it. Pretty grueling, raising and homeschooling five kids, eh? ;-)
